So You Wanna Do A Video Essay, Huh?

Stars: 4 For one of our assignments this week we had to do a tutorial for an assignment we had already created. I chose to do the Ebert’s Analysis assignment. I really enjoyed this assignment, and it could be difficult to know how to do without any background information. I had already made a tutorial for ClipGrab for an assignment, so this one was a piece of cake! All I did was set up a screen recording, talk in my head to know what I would say during my voiceover, save it, edit it, put in a voice recording, and upload it to youtube. I chose to only add music…

    Assignment Bank #3

Stars: 2 I normally choose to do 2 five star assignments to complete the ten star requirement, however, there weren’t many five star assignments to choose from this week. I noticed that the star ratings change, as some I chose to do earlier have went from 5 stars to 2. I also chose to add music into the title and credits of this assignment. I felt like it fit well and brought the whole assignment together. I needed a two star assignment to finish up, so I chose this one. I also had to relate this one to my secret agent. I felt like my secret agent is me, so…

    Assignment Bank #2

Stars: 4 For my second assignment, I chose to do one where I explain a software and make a video. I just recently found out about a software called Clip Grab and I wanted to make a video on it to help my peers. I had never heard of this software, and it may be easy to use, but it could really help one of my classmates. I first had to google how to screen record on my Mac. After I found out, I just simply did a screen recording of everything that I needed to walk someone through the software. I left enough time in between steps to explain…

    Assignment Bank #1

Stars: 4 My first assignment bank caught my eye. I was scrolling through them and I realized that this one was quite the same as one from last week. I really enjoyed analyzing a scene from a movie last week, so I decided to do it again… but add a twist. I decided to do Amelie, as this relates to my secret agent, and thus the course. I said last week how her name was inspired by the movie Amelie. My twist was that instead of running through every single thing we learned about cinematography, I would just focus on one thing. That thing being camera angles. I felt like…

    Assignment Bank #2

My second assignment bank was my first step into iMovie. I’ve messed around with it a little, but I was completely dumb founded. I had to google the easiest of things, but eventually got everything to work out. For this one I had to choose 3 movie scenes that changed my life. I had to think long and hard about this one, as I have not watched a movie under this category in a while. I started browsing through Netflix to rejog my memory, but this did not do much. I remembered that my favorite movie is The Butterfly Effect due to its message. It conveys how you can’t change…

    Assignment Bank #1

This first assignment was kinda a struggle. I thought it would be quite simple. All I had to do was to make a video displaying Morse Code. I decided to take a nap before this assignment, and while I was half asleep I decided to youtube a video of it to understand how to do it. I remember learning about it vaguely in school, but we never learned how to do it. I found a video showing how to say “hello world” and I was going to tap one finger for a dot, and two for a dash. Listening to the video and trying to execute the tapping was difficult.…
